Neil Solarz Joins Wealth Management Podcast to Discuss Warning Signs of Elder Abuse in Estate Planning

Neil Solarz recently joined David Lenok, Senior Editor at WealthManagement.com, on an episode of the “Celebrity Estates: Wills of the Rich and Famous” podcast. In the episode, Neil and David use the elder abuse allegations surrounding the late actor John Amos as a case study to discuss the nuances of estate planning and end-of-life care. Drawing on his over three decades of experience in this area, Neil delves into the fine line between respecting clients’ autonomy and shielding them from potential elder abuse.

“I’ve handled hundreds of cases dealing with siblings arguing over a parent’s care, over access to the parent, isolating the parent – all of those things are very common,” Neil tells David. “Some red flags or warning signs to me, if it’s an existing client of mine, would be if I frequently get calls or emails from a child that is being kept out of caregiving decisions, has difficulty even seeing their parent, is concerned that their sibling is manipulating that person or may have caused that person to change their estate plan, is questioning whether there needs to be a conservatorship – all of those things are very common and raise concern.”

To hear more of Neil’s insight, tune in to the “Celebrity Estates: Wills of the Rich and Famous” episode below.
