Jonathan Forster Quoted in Wealth Management Article Highlighting Boar’s Head Family Feud Over Estate
Jonathan Forster was recently quoted in a Wealth Management article entitled, “The Boar’s Head Family Beef,” which sheds light on an ongoing feud over the estate of Barbara Brunckhorst, daughter of Boar’s Head co-founder Frank Brunckhorst. Barbara’s nephew and heir have stated that he intends to honor her dying wish by donating a majority of her wealth to environmental charities and neuroscience research. He is challenged by a descendant of Boar’s Head co-founder Bruno Bischoff, who alleges that Barbara’s shares in the company should be his and has threatened legal action.
“It’s an unfortunate truth that a dying wish doesn’t hold the same legal weight as a clearly laid out will or trust—a dying wish is not going to be enforceable in a court of law if legal documents state otherwise,” Jonathan told Wealth Management. “If Barbara had truly felt adamant about supporting the charitable causes she clearly valued…then taking precise legal action, such as amending her will or creating a trust, would have removed any ambiguity on her death.”
