Elizabeth Acevedo’s article “Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts (ILITs) in Estate Planning: Common Pitfalls to Avoid” was recently published by ThinkAdvisor, an ALM publication. The article outlines the importance of properly integrating Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts (ILITs) into comprehensive estate plans to ensure that clients maximize the benefits of their life insurance policies and avoid common problems that arise in connection with funding and administering ILITs.
“Although ILITs have been around for decades, there are a number of pitfalls that can undermine their effectiveness,” Beth notes in the article. “By being aware of some of the more common snares, advisors can help their clients (who, more often than not, rely on their advisors to navigate sophisticated planning) to avoid these traps.”
